چکیده
The first case is of a 72-year-old woman undergoing angiography for aortic stenosis workup via the right radial approach. An Multipurpose 1 (MPA-1) catheter, Cordis Corporation, East Bridgewater, New Jersey) was used to direct the wire across the valve and subsequently used for ventriculography due to difficulty crossing the severely stenosed valve. There was visualization of the thebesian vein, coronary vein, and sinus. Still image (Fig. 1) during

Inadvertent cardiac phlebography
We are reporting a case of a 80-year-old lady with effort angina who underwent coronary angiography through the right radial artery, using a dedicated radial multipurpose 5 French Optitorque Tiger catheter. The catheter was advanced into the left ventricle and a left ventriculogram was obtained, while the catheter appeared optimally placed at the centre of the ventricle and the pressure wavefor...

متن کاملAccidental arterial puncture during right internal jugular vein cannulation in cardiac surgical patients
BACKGROUND The primary aim of this study was to compare the incidence of accidental arterial puncture during right internal jugular vein (RIJV) cannulation with and without ultrasound guidance (USG). The secondary end points were to assess if USG improves the chances of successful first pass cannulation and if BMI has an impact on incidence of arterial puncture and the number of attempts that a...
متن کاملAn unusual route taken by a central venous catheter resulting in inadvertent subclavian artery cannulation: a case report
Ultrasound-guided cannulation of a central venous catheter into the internal jugular vein (IJV) was performed in the intensive care unit for a critically ill patient. The catheter was inserted into the subclavian artery distally, despite prior ultrasound confirmation of the guidewire position using both the in-plane and out-of-plane views. The catheter was removed successfully by the interventi...

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study is to find out if an ultrasound technique has advantages over the conventional landmark technique. METHODS This is a prospective randomized comparative study on 120 patients requiring central venous cannulation of the right internal jugular vein. The study comprised of two groups: ultrasound and landmark groups, each consisting of 60 patients. The outcome measu...
